KAMMERKUNSTISUVI  (ChamberArtSummer)

Pärnu Mud Baths  July 8 - August 20
curator Sirje Eelma

The medical treatments with curative mud in Pärnu Mud Baths have been terminated and during this summer this attractive building has been at arts disposal. All 25 artists that participated in the exhibition got their own cabinets for small solo exhibitions. A true ChamberArtSummer!

The conception of this exhibition was rather visual-aesthetical and held a light tonality. FLOWERS and WOMEN was a common theme that represented this exposition - and what could be more beautiful in the summertime and in Pärnu. Nevetheless, you didn`t come across mere exhibitionism or mawkish because there are as much breeds of a flower than there are personalities of an artist, thus there is also plenty of ways to envision and dream up an object.

On the other hand, the exhibition did not wish to bring up too serious matters - a summer exhibition is not a place where to solve social and existential prolblems of the mankind. At least in the summertime, art should belong to the more ceremonial part of life for a change and help to lift the viewer a little bit up, or at least aside, of the daily routines. A memorable event of the exhibition opening was Terje Ojaver`s perfomance „The living sculptures of Amandus Adamson“.
